For even better results, consume your daily protein allotment over 4-6 small meals spread evenly throughout the day.

I always fall back to buying this. Overall what it offers I find it's a safe option - taste is pretty decent compared to others I've tried but took time to grow on me, I've had minimal issues with mixing consistency and it packs a good amount of protein and BCAA's. Still undecided if it is worth the extra $, but I suppose seeing I keep purchasing it I have decided.
Tried salted caramel flavour and quite impressed. I'm a big caramel fan and while it didnt quite hit the mark it was pretty good tasting. Consistency of the shake was also a little thin for my liking but it's a quality formula without fillers and sits at a nice price point.

Solid splits with low carb and fats and 24g of protein. Flavours leave something to be desired, but are still palatable.
Still hard to justify splurging the extra $30 when I can get 5lb of nutrawhey, having similar splits and better taste.
Generally the only ON products I get are their caseins, which they are umatched in the market.
Being the worlds best selling protein you would think it would mix well! For some reason this stuff does not mix great in water or milk. flavour is quite boring, I got extreme milk choc, and compared to Combat or syntha6 it tastes like watered down milo, only good thing about this product is a lot of servings for the cost, 24g protein a scoop and mainly isolate. But doesn't taste great and I wish it mixed better!
this is my go to protein, i like to try different brands but always come back to ON Gold Standard. taste 7/10. its definitely not the best tasting protein ever made however if you mix it with skim milk it does taste much better though. formula 10/10. pretty much one of the best formulas going around in my eyes, good amount of high quality protein per serve, good amount of BCAAs, low fat,low sugar and low carb. one thing i like about ON products are that they are very trust worthy so you know exactly what your getting. i do not trust some of these other supplement company's at all. this protein works well for cooking too. overall score of 9/10. i highly recommend this product no matter what your goals.
Used optimum for a good few years before switching to whey isolate, optimum offers a wide range of,flavours which keeps you, going especially in comp prep when things begin to get bland in your diet. Has a good amount of protein per serve, mixes well, and optimum is definitely a well trusted brand:)
Lives up to the hype in the fact it has no fillers pure quality whey protein.. whilst it may be a little bit more expensive you get way more serves out of a tub as its a isolate/concentrate formula.. the only thing that lacks it the taste, but for gains this powder lives up to its reputation.
I tried this after reading all the great reviews in many online posts,
What I like most about this product is how easily it mixes in a glass and its percentage of protein per serving.
So as far as its marketing hype is concerned optimum nutrition delivers as promised.
The vanilla flavour tastes great, (I always buy vanilla no matter which brand I buy) this is one of the better tasting vanillas that I have tried.
As for product performance, I used this product for maintenance rather than gain, and it did its job as needed.
The only concern I have with this product is that it played havoc with my guts. Although it diddnt change my regular routine of my morning 8am poop, all shits while using this product were the consistency of muddy chocolate mousse,
In short, tastes great, mixes well, a good pure form of whey, maintained mass levels, but because of the runny shits overall I rate Optimum nutrition gold label a 6.5
Hands down best protien powder on the market in my eyes. Great taste, packed with glutamine and amino acids. Extreme milk chocolate by far best flavor
I have used the Double Rich Choc flavour for a few weeks now and gotta say I am pretty impressed with this product.
Flavour: 10/10 I thought I would get sick of it after a while but I don't. The chocolate tastes pretty much like Cadbury Hot Chocolate but just slightly blander.
Consistency: 10/10 I take a scoop and put it in my bottle and shake it for less than 10 seconds and there are no bits left over which is what I like.
Formula: 9/10 I can see some progressive results when supplement with this product and a good nutrition. As for nutritional facts go, it is great with 24g of protein, 1g fat, 3g carbs and 120 calories. Not bad overall.
Overall Rating: 9/10
Taste - 6/10 White Chocolate
Consistency - 8/10
Formula - 7/10
Overall score - 7/10
Good product I didn't particully like this flavour though. I prefer the 100% isolate products as they have less calories, more protien per gram and mix better.
This was my go2 protein dor ages. Recently switched to MP to get more of a blend.
Made good gains off this. My main source of protein is food but skull back a few shakes to get the extra hit. Tastes great with no lumps and not overly sweet. Its actually quite bland. Yum with milk. Never tried with water but most definitely recommend to anyone.
Optimum Nutrition Cookies and Cream.
I tried the cookies and cream flavour, gotta admit not the best tasting flavour. I could not really taste the cookies and cream. A bit disappointed but have not tried other flavours so cannot judge on ON protein overall. The mixability is alright, still had the 'cookies' floating above.
Taste - 7/10
Consistency - 7/10
Formula - 8/10
Overall score - 7/10
There is a big reputation for ON Gold standard as they are considered the worlds most popular protein. I however didn't share the same hype towards it.
Definitely the strong point of this product. Produced with a mixture of whey isolates and concentrates as well as around 6g of BCAAs and other amino acids. Many people consider the protein to be among the safest due to their positive track record and claim of quality. I have to agree here.
I have a sweet tooth and quite like "sweeter" protein powders which may be why I found the various flavours I've tried (most chocolates/vanillas) to be a bit bland. Dont get me wrong, it is definitely drinkable and is nice on occasion, just not flavour rich by my standards.
This is where I wasn't impressed. Maybe I have had a few bad batches but I've had many occasions (many tubs) where the mix hasn't completely blended well when tried with water (cold/normal) or milk. I even used the spring which helped but didn't solve the problem. It doesn't happen always, but is a regular occurrence.
Overall a good quality protein powder by Optimum Nutrition that fits the needs of most individuals with an excellent nutritional profile and a decent taste. The various range of flavours adds variety to a consumers options and is no doubt a popular and highly trusted product. I would happily use this product again in the future.
Considered the standard in which protein is judged against these days due to its overwhelming popularity worldwide. I have been through many tubs of the years and agree it is a high quality protein.
I do think there are better options out there, value and quality wise but I do trust the quality of the ingredients.
A pretty standard tasting protein, not amazingly sweet nor bland but easily consumable. I prefer a sweeter tasting protein so this doesn't register too highly for me. Ive tried most of the chocolate/vanilla flavours (including White chocolate) and overall im satisfied with the taste.
Maybe ive had a couple of bad batches but I havent had the greatest experience with the mixing quality with ON Gold Standard. Even when mixing with water I was still getting small clumps. It was however good when used in smoothies or cooking.
The overall consistency isnt bad by any means but it is not as fine as other brands I have seen which may effect its average mixability rating.
Nutritional Profile 9/10
This is where ON Gold Standard shines. With quality ingredients, a small amount of fat (1.5g) and carbs (3g) with a good protein content (24g)and around 6g BCAAs it has proven to be its best quality. Being made up of mostly whey isolates and concentrate it provides a good quality source of protein.
I think Gold Standard is a bit over priced for what it is. Sure it has quality ingredients but I feel as though you are paying for the brand (like most renowned consumer brands). Overall a good quality protein that you will have to pay a bit more for.
Protein, as most people will know, is hard to track exact changes between the brands due to diet inconsistancy and other variables but after a few consectutive tubs I feel as though I have noticed changes as a result, although these are hard to determine. Based off the quality ingredients, it would be fair to say I definitely benefited from this product.
not a fan of the rocky road at all, blergh!
Taste - 8/10
Consistency - 7/10
Formula - 8/10
Overall score - 8/10
Have been using this particular protein for the last year and a half. The flavour is 'okay' , its bearable but can become uneasy, boring & bland if your like to buy larger sizes (which are better value for money). The facts seem to be great, a protein that has low carbs & fats perfect for a sign of a good clean whey protein.
The 5.5g of BCAA's is also pleasing for those who want a complete whey protein rather than using a branch chain supp also & the three used are Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine which is quite profound. Lastly, the protein mixes easy and is the average price on the market in NZ per serving.
real good protein i believe this to be because few year ago this was an experiment done to see what protein had the most accurate servings and gold standard was the most accurate by far, also taste is good i usually get double rich chocolate tastes just like a choc milk shake and mixes good. Also is pretty low in calories so good for getting shredded with too and optimum had a law suit to do with an ingredient in this stuff that helps your body absorb nurtrients and that kinds of stuff cant remember what was called but sounded like a good think to have ( think there is more information about that on the optimum website.
Very good protein supp, been through 15lbs of it total and liked it better than others. Chocolate and cookies and cream are good tasting and easy to mix. 24g per serve and decent pricing Aswell.
great protein, tasted good, mixed well and was high in protein.
1st protein I've tryed and I love it . Good thing about it is that it is affective and low cost , good tast
One of the best Protein supplements on the Market IMO; Have tried only the Chocolate flavor but it was amazing. Solid product; Great reputation within the industry. You can't go wrong if you are looking to invest in a Whey protein; This is the supplement for you.
Underwhelmed. Cookies and Cream flavour tasted nothing like Cookies and Cream. Shook it normal amount in my Xplosiv shaker, opened it to find chunks. So put the lid back on and shook it again double my normal shaking time if not more, and there were still powdery chunks.
Poured it into a glass and it went all separated. Tasted really average. Pretty much had to force myself to finish it. I don't care what price this goes for, or the fact that it is supposed to have the purest and most expensive form of whey protein, I wouldn't bother buying it again. I think I have been spoiled by the beautiful flavours and mixability of Gaspari's MyoFusion Elite. I would rather pay double price for that rather than half price for this. However, in saying all of this, I am thankful to the GC's at Xplosiv Supplements for this sample, and was happy and eager to give it a whirl.
Photos will accompany this review on the forum shortly.
Decent protein supp. Not as good as Trutein but ON delivers 24g of protein like most other protein supps on the market. I'd recommend this supplement but if you had a little more money I'd buy trutein or syntha 6.
have been my go to protein for the past two years, great taste, mixes easily, and solid amount of protein per serving would recommend
I was lucky enough to be given half a tub of Vanilla from a friend that recently moved overseas. I'll be honest, it wasn't the best tasting Vanilla protein I've had, I was a little disappointed. I've heard a lot of good stuff about Gold Standard, but flavour wise, it was a let down. I still prefer Myo or Super Quad over this, overall flavour wise.
This powder is great tasting although i have only tried chocolate. This is great value although i have found recently other powder that is also great and cheap!
Great tasting. I have used chocolate and vanilla. Both where good
This has been the top whey for a while but now others have caught up.
A good amount of aminos, mixes well. Everything you want in a protein.
However I think for the price there are now better protein on the market.
However if this is your staple you can't really go wrong.
Guys- look past 100% whey of any brand as your staple protein source.
This particular product is so over-hyped it's not funny. The industry has banged away on whey protein for 15+ years now hence why everyone usually looks out for "Whey" of any type. Science has advanced, and slower proteins can now have their carbs and fats reduced to offer a better formulation and offer imediate and prolonged amino delivery (and a better more satisfying shake).
FACT- Whey has a very high biological value which is great, but the aminos are in and out so fast within an hour you are starving and your blood aminos are plummeting.
BETTER- Stack it with Casein for a better, satisfying product, or go with a blend like Myofusion or Superquad (my preference).
No good in oats either- too watery, and I refuse to use milk in my powders. Adding milk just pumps back in all the bloating lactose junk the companies removed, plus adds more cost to the product. Milk aint exactly cheap these days.
I Have the chocolate stuff in the 10 pound bag.
-Taste - amazing can't be faulted even with water
-Mixing - water/milk doesn't matter mixes easily
-Can be made into a delicious sludge
-High quality wpc
-only cons is the price available to NZ'ers still much higher than getting the plain stuff which sucks
very underrated as it is one of the best whey proteins out i took it for two months had some good results but am taking clutch whey protein atm
Great whey, really advanced formula with a combination of whey concentrate, isolate and hydrolyzed. So you get the best of all 3 worlds. Found I recovered quicker while on this whey. I had the mocha cappuccino and it was allgood, a lot better than most of the wheys I've tried. Only thing that let it down in my mind is price, but if you have the funds go for it!
The 24g instantised whey it contains (Whey Protein Isolate, Cultured Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Peptides)and a couple of digestive enzymes make it mix easily, but attribute to the products expensive price tag.
Extensive range of flavours and sizes available to suit all tastes and bank account limits.
Don't like the addition of a non-dairy creamer and the unnecessary ingredients they bring to the protein mix though.
Definitely one of the best proteins I have tried. The chocolate flavour has a nice taste, and it mixes easily. Good amount of protein per serving to.
Protein was good but taste wise not the greatest. Good protein and recommend it for people who are trying to cut.
this is a great whey for the money, you get about 24 grams of protein per scoop plus a nice amount of bcaas which is great the mix is great the taste could be better but it definately does the job. the supplement has iso with hydro peptides so your muscles love it =) like I said the only thing bad about it was the taste no where near vanilla i just finished a 5 lb tub found the taste was the only thing that let this product down, but nevertheless still a great product.
Definitely one of the best and most trusted proteins.
1. You know what your getting in the product unlike some other proteins.
2. The taste is very good. I find it easy to drink and have tried it in vanilla, chocolate and banana. I would definitely buy all of them again. Personally I don't like things to sweet which has made these all turn out really good for me.
Only downside is the price I guess, however you do get what you pay for. This is a worldwide trusted proteins with great name a d rep.
Best protein I have ever had hands down. I have this with the ON Cassein, hardly feel sore the next day, can usually do a workout the next day fine. Taste is amazing, banana and choc but apparently the cookies and cream isnt too good.
really good. expensively priced but if you can afford it, a good purchase. mixes into water easily and pretty well in milk. tried the double choc flavour and it was very satisfying. strongly recommended if within your price range.
I have the vanilla one of these and mmmm yum. it goes good with porridge and tastes just like icecream shake which is good when u need sumthin sweet. defnitly better then the choclate one. Rich chocolate sux dont get it
I have tried the Cookies and Cream flavour and it tasted nothing like cookies and cream. Perhaps it is just a difficult thing to successfully recreate a cookies and cream flavoured protein powder. Nonetheless, I was very disappointed as this product seems to get rave reviews all over the place as well as winning a top product award at the Bodybuilding.com supplement awards. If I decide to take a chance and try some of the other flavours, I may change my mind about this product. Until then, it gets a thumbs down from me.
Optimum whey is usually thought of as being one of the best, and at the price it retails for you would expect that. I found the Double Rich chocolate to be somewhat bland and underflavoured, sometimes I would have to add stevia to make it taste better. It mixes very well and usually never clumps. Profile is very good @ 24g protein per serve, 120 cals and only 3g carbs.
Overall an okay product, but not worth the price tag.
Been using chocolate myo ever since i started working out and decided to give this a go from a recommendation
To be honest i couldn't even eat my oats with it as it so watery and bland and at 20buxs more than i pay for my i was not impressed
optimum nutrition has great tasting protein, some of the better flavours ive had, great valve for a quality product
best protein ive used. unlike most brands whey isolate is the main ingredient giving it a better protein to carb ratio than most other brands. definitly recomend the 10lb bag for value!
Used to use this all the time until I realized this is what was giving me gas. It's a great protein with good taste that works well for my friends, just not me and my weak-sauce colon.
